So far we are quite pleased with this fountain. It arrived in perfect condition and looks very realistic. It looks like it is intended to go against a wall but it is not required, the back is well-finished too, but fairly flat. We do not have it against a wall and it still looks good. There are plants behind it (Autumn Ferns) and we may add some that are taller.The best view of the design faces slightly to your right, if you are standing in front of the fountain. That is perfect for our location but you might want to turn it to the left a bit otherwise.We have all seen cheesy-looking fountains but this one looks good and sounds good. You cannot hear the pump. If you don't want the lights they have a separate plug. They look nice at dawn or dusk, however, with flickering reflections on the "rocks". Certain birds are willing to come there to drink (so far just robins and chickadees), so I run some fresh water in when watering plants. You cannot overfill.
